Church History

the Pastor Robert E. and Mother Mary Parrish Taylor Memorial Scholarship, the beginning of the Annual House of Prayer Women’s Retreat, and the Annual Black History Program.

On August 2, 1998, Elder Paul Brown was installed as pastor of the church by Vice Bishop Francis Myles.  Elder Brown has been a member of the church from his youth.  He served in the office of Deacon, then as Minister.  He was President of the Youth Conference of the House of Prayer Church of God, Inc. from July of 1976 until July of 1998.  Elder Brown remains pastor of the Charles Town congregation.

The church is being blessed with new members and miracles are being performed.  Pastor Brown, whose motto is “It’s right to do right it’s wrong to do wrong”,  encourages the saints to “reach beyond the walls” to allow our lights to shine in and around the community.   This is being accomplished in various ways.  The church participates in community dinners opened to all.  The church basement facility is used by a local Girl Scout troupe.  We are encouraged to know that the Bible declares:  “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men.”  Ps. 107:31.
